David
of Full Days
The word of God said this about David;
And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour; and Solomon his son reigned in his stead. 1Chr.29:28
David lived only 70 years, yet the bible said he was full of days. 70 years is not so long compared with some other men in the bible who lived for over 900 years.
Abraham lived 175 years. Gen.25:8-9
Isaac lived 180 years. Gen.35:28-29
Joshua lived 110 years. Josh. 13:1; 23:1; 24:29
Moses lived 120 years. Dt. 34:7. And the bible said that his eyes were not dim nor his natural force abated.
David and several other kings of Israel became old prematurely because of the hard life they lived in war and stress
David lived about 25,568 days, which was nothing compared to what God's plan was when man was created.
God intended that man should live eternally and never grow old, but sin caused man to "come short of the glory of God"
So what does the bible mean by david full of days?
It means that David's life was eventful. It was full of chronicles. It was full of events.
David's life was full of;
- experiences,
- happenings,
- wars,
- battles,
- victories,
- miracles,
- prayers,
- answers to prayer,
- divine intervention
- divine visitation
- projects,
- dreams,
- visions,
- executions
Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer, With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries. (1 Chronicles 29:29, 30 KJV)
The chronicles of events in David's life filled the books of 3 men! Samuel, Nathan and Gad wrote the biographies of David.
Some people's lives are satanically quiet.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Each day of David's life was full. He was full of days. Each day had something to deliver.
Your life is measured in days. So what are you doing today? Today makes up part of your history. This is why you must make each day count. Use today to prepare for tomorrow.
David's diary was full. Each day had something to tell. Each day had something to offer. Day unto day uttereth speech. Ps.19:1
WHAT MADE DAVID'S LIFE EVENTFUL?
1. Clear cut vision.
Have a vision to make noise and make news with your destiny. Have a vision of impact.
Let this vision be a burning desire in your soul.
Yonggi Cho said; in 1959 I had a burning desire to build the largest church in Korea. This was my vision. I slept with it. I woke up with it. 20 years after, it is said that mu church is the largest church in the world.
Have a clear cut, definite precise goal.
In 2016, don't pray ambiguous prayers.
See the answer before you pray the prayer.
2. David was anointed. 2 Samuel 23:1.
The Holy Ghost was upon him. The life of Jesus of Nazareth was very quiet and silent until the Holy Spirit came on him. As soon as the Holy Spirit arrived , the bible said;
Matthew 4:24 (KJV)
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
The Holy Spirit will do the same for you and I.
3. David was the sweet psalmist of Israel. Set aside 15mins daily just to praise God.
1 Chronicles 23:5 (KJV)
Moreover four thousand [were] porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, [said David], to praise [therewith].
No doubt it was the anointing that raised David on high. However it was David's lifestyle of praise that opened him up to the anointing.
Be conscious of the presence of God daily. Live in the atmosphere of praise.
4. The fear of God. 2Sam.23:1-4
2 Samuel 23:3 (KJV)
The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men [must be] just, ruling in the fear of God.
2 Samuel 23:4 (KJV)
And [he shall be] as the light of the morning, [when] the sun riseth, [even] a morning without clouds; [as] the tender grass [springing] out of the earth by clear shining after rain.
A morning without clouds is a bright clear morning. It is a morning that is clear, bright and it shines clear through.
Joseph said;
Genesis 42:18 (KJV)
...This do, and live; [for] I fear God:
When you fear God, you will not hurt someone else. When you fear God, you will not break someone else's home or dreams.
Joseph said to Mrs. Portiphar,
Genesis 39:8-9 NET)
"Look, my master does not give any thought to his household with me here, and everything that he owns he has put into my care. There is no one greater in this household than I am. He has withheld nothing from me except you because you are his wife. So how could I do such a great evil and sin against God?"
The fear of the Lord lifts and promotes.
I'm glad that we can apply the same diligence in our lives as David did. And surely we can be full of days!
